About Gabus81
What is Gabus81?
Gabus81 is my independent UK bag brand. I turn reclaimed denim into practical tote bags, crossbody bags, smaller bags and accessories — each with its own combination of details and character.
Who makes Gabus81 bags?
I’m Gabriela, the designer and maker behind Gabus81. There’s no factory or production team — I plan, cut, sew, finish and pack each bag myself.
What makes Gabus81 bags different?
I combine reclaimed denim with useful pockets, comfortable straps, thoughtful openings and enough structure to help each bag keep its shape. They’re designed to look distinctive and work properly when carried.
Materials
What are Gabus81 bags made from?
Reclaimed jeans are at the heart of most Gabus81 bags. Depending on the design, I may also use leather details, corduroy, cotton, upholstery fabric, interfacing, zips and metal hardware.
Are all Gabus81 bags different?
Yes. The placement, colour, fading and original details of reclaimed jeans naturally vary. I don’t recreate exactly the same bag, so the piece you choose has its own combination of denim and details.
Is every part of the bag reclaimed?
Not always. The denim is reclaimed, and where possible I also look for unused second-hand fabrics for linings and details — materials someone no longer needs but that still have plenty of life in them. I buy new only when I can’t find the right option this way.

What types of bags do you make?
I mainly make tote bags, crossbody bags, shoulder bags, clutches and smaller accessories. The selection changes as pieces are finished and sold.
What makes the bags practical for everyday use?
Pockets, comfortable carrying options, easy access and a structured-but-soft construction are central to my designs. The exact layout depends on the bag, so every product description includes its individual details.
Do all Gabus81 bags have a double zip?
No. The double zip is one of my signature details and appears on many designs, but not every bag uses it. Some styles have a single zip, magnetic closure or flap depending on their shape and purpose.
How do I choose the right size?
Check the measurements and capacity information in the individual product description. Think about what you normally carry and whether you need a compact hands-free bag, an everyday crossbody or a roomier tote.
Care
How should I care for a reclaimed denim bag?
Care depends on the combination of denim, lining, leather details and hardware. Start gently, avoid unnecessary soaking and check the care information provided with the bag.
Can I wash my Gabus81 bag?
Materials and construction vary, so every bag should not be treated in the same way. Check the product information and care guide first. If you are unsure about a particular bag, contact me before cleaning it.

The website helps you explore the designs, details and story behind Gabus81. Available pieces can currently be purchased through my Etsy shop, with direct shopping options gradually being added.
What happens when a bag is sold?
Most Gabus81 bags are individual pieces. Once one is sold, I usually won’t make an identical replacement, although a similar shape or idea may return with different denim and details.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Available delivery destinations and charges are shown in each product listing. Please check the listing before ordering, as shipping options can depend on the destination and size of the bag.
How will my order be packed?
I pack every order with care, almost as if it were a gift. I like brown paper and string and reuse good shipping boxes when possible. The exact packaging may vary, but it will always be prepared in the Gabus81 style.
