for Your Denim Bag
— and it will last for years.

A Little Care Goes a Long Way

An upcycled denim bag doesn’t need complicated care, but it does need a gentler approach than a pair of jeans. Different fabrics, interfacing, metal hardware and leather details all react differently to water and heat.

Start with the Small Marks

For light dirt, begin with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap. Clean only the affected area and avoid rubbing too hard — especially on darker denim. Always test your method somewhere less visible first.

Skip the Washing Machine

Even when a bag is made mostly from denim, machine washing can affect its shape, structure, lining and hardware. Spot cleaning gives you much more control and is usually all your bag needs.

Let It Dry Naturally

After cleaning, gently reshape the bag and leave it to air dry away from radiators and direct heat. Don’t tumble dry it — high temperatures can shrink fabrics, weaken adhesives and change the shape of the bag.

Store It with a Little Space

Empty the pockets before storing your bag and keep it somewhere dry. If you won’t be using it for a while, loosely fill it with clean paper or fabric to help it hold its shape. Avoid hanging it by the strap for long periods.

Don’t Forget the Details

Turn the bag inside out carefully and remove dust or crumbs from the lining with a soft brush. Wipe zips and metal parts with a dry cloth, and keep leather details away from excess water. Never force a zip — first check whether fabric or thread is caught inside.
